Original 18th Century Flora Londinesis Plate

A beautiful late 18th century hand coloured copper plate by James Sowerby taken from the highly Collectable Flora Londinesis book published by William Curits in Six volumes from 1777 - 1798. It is on the original laid paper and bares the Strasbourg bend and Lily watermark & initials G.R . The print is hand coloured and has an embossed square where the plate was printed. There is a hand written 42 to the top of the print and the plant is the Euphrasia Officinalis and is numbered 335. There is some light creases to the paper. All the plants were drawn to scale and this is a very unusual plate set so small in the plate.

47cm tall
29cm wide
